indian customer engagement software company moengage has acquired san francisco-based startup aampe in an all-cash deal worth tens of millions of dollars. aampe builds software that assigns a dedicated ai agent to each customer, letting brands personalize messages based on individual behavior instead of traditional audience segments and campaign rules. the startup serves over 30 customers across the u.s., europe, and asia-pacific and grew annual recurring revenue by 150% in the past year.

moengage co-founder and ceo raviteja dodda said the acquisition will help win customers from rival platforms like salesforce and adobe. the company recently signed several multimillion-dollar annual contract value deals with customers switching from salesforce. dodda expects aampe's technology to attract more such enterprise migrations. the deal follows moengage's $280 million funding round over six months ago and will add about 20 aampe employees, bringing total staff to roughly 820.

the acquisition reflects a broader push to embed ai agents that make autonomous decisions into enterprise software, moving beyond content generation or employee assistance. in marketing, these agents decide which customers to target, what messages to send, and when. aampe's technology is already used by brands like swiggy, grab, and taxfix, some of which also use moengage's platform. aampe had raised about $28 million from investors including peak xv partners, z47, and theory ventures.
